WHAT'S ON
Throughout 6th - 9th June 2024 we will host various events on The Green, Wrea Green, Lancashire to commemorate 80 years since D-Day. There will be competitions, games, live entertainment and much more. All monies raised throughout this time will be donated to The Royal British Legion and SSAFA.

Fish & Chips, National Tribute and Beacon
Please join us for an evening to enjoy National Fish and Chip Day and Commemorate those who fought 80 years ago in D-Day.
Thursday 6th June is the official 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. From approximately 2pm, everyone is invited to visit the Green and leave their name and handprint on the beacon as an act of respect and rememberance to those who took part in D-Day. Materials will be provided.
The tipi & bar will open at 6pm, giving you the opportunity to celebrate National Fish & Chips Day by having an Oliver's Chippy from Warton delivered straight to the tipi. It is recommended that you pre-order your Oliver's fish & chips, but there is also the option to order on the night before 7:30pm. The tipi will close at 8:00pm for the national tribute. You are welcome to bring your (battery-lit) candles, or glow sticks as your own mini beacons. The tipi will reopen after the service at 9:25pm.

Oliver's Chippy is based in Warton and has an offer on that anyone spending over £20 on National Fish and Chip day (6th June) can receive a buy one get one free Fish & Chips before July.

Family Fun Quiz Night
Come down with your friends and family to enjoy our family fun quiz night with quiz master Paul O'Brien.
Tipi, food and drink all open at 6pm with the quiz starting at 7pm.
Five rounds of quizzing means five chances to WIN!
This is an electronic quiz so please bring a tablet or phone.

£1 minimum donation per adult is required on the night to help raise money for RBL & SSAFA.
Saturday 8th June
1940s Day
Welcome to our 1940s Day, where we're stepping back in time to celebrate the spirit and style of the 1940s! Get ready for a day filled with nostalgia, delicious food, refreshing drinks, market stalls and various competitions. There will also be vintage transport, reenactors and toe-tapping live entertainment.
Entertainment includes: JEM Events, St. Nicholas Singers, Miller Davies Academy, AA Dance, Derek and Linda Herbert (The Churchills), Children’s activities and D-Day Educational Display inside tipi.
Competition Information
We invite you to take part in the competitions taking place on Saturday 8 June. It’s free to enter, open to everyone and there will be prizes for the winners presented by some of our VIP attendees. You can submit up to two entries per category. Baked goods and models to be staged from 8:30am-10am. Judging will take place at 10am during which time the tipi will be closed to the public. Best dressed competition to be judged at 12pm on the stage.

World War II Rationing Bake-off!!
Calling all baking enthusiasts! Get your aprons ready and your ovens preheated for our World War II Bake-Off Competition! People of all ages are welcome to showcase their skills and creativity in this delicious showdown.

Competition Two:
World War II Model Build a model or make a model using any medium of a World War II era vehicle, plane, or scene (e.g. wooden spitfire, Lego model, etc.) or anything to the theme - get creative! Please no stand-alone models of guns or models with swastikas.

Best Dressed (1940s theme) Step into the style of the 1940s for our best dressed competition. So get ready to show off your make-do-and mend, evacuee, soldier, land girl style or dapper evening wear.

Tickets - £60 per person or £600 for a table of 10
A fundraising evening for the Royal British Legion and SSAFA.
We will have some live music from Tony Finbarr-Smith, photography by Peter Austin, a 3 course meal provided by the Hog Roast Company, a live raffle, live auction and each table of 10 will recieve 3 bottles of table wine.
Sunday 9th June
Community Fun Day with Afternoon Tea
On our concluding day of commemorations, please join us for a church service on The Green followed by a relaxing afternoon as a community. Enjoy some live entertainment provided by The Bobby Pin Ups, pre-order your luxury afternoon tea (fizz optional) or bring your own picnic, chairs and gazebos.

Thank you to the Parish Council who have lifted the alcohol ban so you can responsibly enjoy your beverage(s) of choice.

'Take away' afternoon tea is being provided by Dizzy Ducks Bistro, each afternoon tea serves two and they are £20 and must be pre-ordered. Cut off point for pre-ordering your afternoon tea is Thursday 6th June.
